MEDAL CATEGORIES 2016

Every finisher in the Half Marathon event will get a Finishers Medal and an online certificate with the finishing timing.

However, to make it more Exciting, Challenging and Fulfilling for the runners,we also have three categories of Finisher’s Medals (Only in the Half Marathon event) according to different Cut- off times, as follows

HILL CHAMPION – FINISHING TIME UPTO 2 HRS (2:00:00)

HILL CONQUEROR – FINISHING TIME 2 HRS TO 2HRS 30 MINUTES (2:00:01 TO 2:30:00)

HILL CHALLENGER – FINISHING TIME OVER 2 HRS 30 MINUTES (2:30:01 AND ABOVE)

The above criteria apply to both Male and Female runners, across all age groups.

IMPORTANT NOTE : The GUN TIME [ NOT CHIP TIME ] will be considered for the allocation of the medals according to the above mentioned cutoffs, which means that the Runner’s time starts right after the starting gun goes off and stops when he/she crosses the finish line.

However the actual time in which you have completed your half marathon will be as recorded by the Timing chip [ Chip time ], which is recorded from the moment you cross the Timing mat at the Starting point upto the moment you cross the Timing mat again at the finish.

In other words your Chip time will usually appear faster than your Gun time, unless you cross the starting mat at exactly the same time as the gun goes off [ possible only if you are an Elite athlete standing right at the front of the lineup in Seeding area A !!! ]

For example, a runner starting in Seeding area B OR C , will cross the Starting mat later than a runner in Area A, by some minutes , depending on his qualifying time and starting area. So a runner in group B or C will have to compensate for the minutes lost in reaching the Starting mat, and reach the Finish line in time to qualify for his desired medal category.

NO ARGUMENTS FROM RUNNERS IN THIS REGARD WILL BE ENTERTAINED AND THE MEDALS WILL BE ALLOCATED AT THE FINISH LINE, STRICTLY ACCORDING TO THE GUN TIME ONLY .

We have done away with the separate timing and age criteria for Male and Female runners, to avoid confusion and bring simplicity to the process of medal allocation.
